A chemical inductor is where products are added to the spray mix. Liquids and dry products are poured into the inductor and drawn into the water stream on their way to the sprayer or tender tank, so nothing is dumped into an open tank.

After the hand-add is poured, the operator rinses and blows out the jug on the inductor's jug rinse valve. Pesticide labels typically call for empty containers to be triple rinsed or pressure rinsed, and rinsing at the inductor sends that rinse water into the batch.

An eductor is a venturi fitting that uses the flow of water to create suction and pull product into the line. An inductor is the hopper the operator pours into. Many inductor systems use an eductor or a pump to draw product out of the hopper, so the two often work together.
